MedTrack: Ireland's Medical Career Tracking Study
Overview of survey process and GDPR compliance
This longitudinal tracking study is researching the specialty and career choices of Irish medical graduates. It is being carried out by the RCSI Health Workforce Research Group, funded by Ireland’s health research funding agency – the Health Research Board (HRB).
All Final Med students were invited to participate in the baseline survey, 18 months ago. Now, all interns are being invited to participate in the second survey.
The purpose of MedTrack is to generate a solid evidence base on specialty and career choices, and on the experiences of interns, with a view to improving working conditions, training and career opportunities for NCHDs in Ireland.

- how any personal data you give us will be protected and kept confidential;
- how your data will be used, subject to your consent;
- how your intern survey data will be linked to your baseline survey data, if you completed a survey in Final Med
- how you can request access and correction of your data, if you have given us your contact details
- what you are consenting to and how you can withdraw your consent at any point; and
- your rights and protections under the 2018 General Data Protection Legislation; along with a list of definitions of relevant GDPR terms
